Dr. Mark Li is certified by the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (CCAOM) in Clean Needle Technique. He is state certified as a Licensed Acupuncturist by Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of State Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs. Dr. Li received his Doctorate Degree of Medicine from China Medical University in 1982, after that he received Masters Degree of Chinese Traditional Medicine from Hunan Chinese Traditional Medical University in 2008, He got his PhD. Degree of Gynecology from Peking University in 1991.

Dr. Mark Li has 18 years clinical experience in both Chinese Traditional Medicine and Western Medicine and 17 years of medical research and medical study experience. After he graduated Traditional Chinese University of Hunan, he has been directed and advised under his supervisor, famous acupuncturist, professor Chen Junjun for12 years. Professor Chen was the Chair of the Department Acupuncture and Tuina, Hunan TCM University. Dr. Li’s 35 years of medical experience and practice also has been in the Department of internal medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Department of Neurology, Department of Hematology and Cancer Unit. He was a physician in Fushun Hospital (1982-1984), was a attending physician (1987-1988) in First Hospital of China Medical University, a attending physician (1991-1994) and associate Professor(1994-1997) of People’s Hospital of Peking University. He also worked in Johannesburg General Hospital of Wits University and school of Medicine of Pitt as medical research officer and visit scholar for many years. Since then he has been working in Allegheny Physical Medicine, Nueropsychiatry Center, and Waterdam Physical Medicine in great Pittsburgh area about 4 years.

Dr. Li specializes in pain management, sport medicine and rehabilitation for sports injury, car accident, workers’ compensation, brain and spin cord injury and stroke. He also specializes in women’s’ issues including PMS, infertility, menopausal, and support treatment for gynecologic cancer; he is also good at psychoneurosis issues including anxiety, depression, stress, and migraines. He also focuses on issues of immunology, endocrine, and cancer related issues as well.

Dr. Li’s training and practice of acupuncture and Chinese medicine is very early in the “The Great Culture Revolution Time” of China (1974). His mom worried about his health (not strong in physical appearance) and future, so sent him to “barefoot doctor training program”( Xinfuqu Hospital of Fushun City, 1974 to 1976) for two years, during his high school time, because he would have graduated from high school in two years then gone to the poor countryside doing heavy labor for 12 hours per day. In Five Family Village, Ningcheng County of Inner Mongolia, China, He had two year’s experience of practice of acupuncture and Chinese medicine (1976 to1978) as a “barefoot doctor”. Here he treated a lot of farmers and his team members for pain management of joints, head, back, leg, shoulder, and Issues of stomach, asthma.
